- Disturbed identity and unclear self-image
- Unstable relationships with intense fluctuations from extreme positivity to extreme negativity
- Viewing people and events in black-and-white terms
- Persistent fear of abandonment and efforts to avoid being left
- Repetitive self-destructive behaviors
- Feelings of emptiness
- Impulsive behavior
- Difficulty controlling anger and conflicts (impulsivity followed by regret)
- Affective reactions (difficulty managing emotions)
- Difficulty in setting and achieving goals (trouble maintaining a course of action)
- Impulsive and risky repetitive behaviors
- High predisposition towards substance use
